  14.  Instructions:

  16.    Create a directory called DX-Synth and place the VoiceFiler program in it.
  17. Create another directory inside the DX-Synth directory called vocfiles.
  18. This is where your data dumps should be. If you received two voice files with
  19. this distribution (Deckard and Czeiszperger), put them in the vocfiles
  20. directory. This may already be done if you got this from Fred Fish.

  22.    Your DX synth must be set to receive MIDI information on channel one.
  23. Also System Info Available must be enabled and Internal Memory Protect must
  24. be turned off. Consult your DX manual on how to do this. Only 32 voice format
  25. MIDI data transfers are supported by this program.
  26.  
  27.    To dump your voices from your DX to your Amiga you need to follow the
  28. instruction in your manual for bulk voice data dumps. This entails, on the
  29. DX7, turning Internal Voice Data Protect off, pressing the Function mode
  30. switch, changing the MIDI channel to 1, enabling System Info Avail,
  31. and then pressing the YES  button at the Function Control MIDI Transmit Prompt
  32. on your DX7.  You may have to press YES a couple of times (wait 4 or 5 sec
  33. before pressing YES again) because the serial.device in 1.2 is not
  34. 100% reliable at MIDI baud rates. I've also had problems running MIDI baud
  35. rates and vd0: in the same mix. The dump is checksumed for reliability. Dumps
  36. for DX21s and DX100s are simililar. The filer program is constantly scanning
  37. for dumps. After you receive the voice data you are prompted via  a disk
  38. requester for a name to save the file under, on disk. You may abort the save
  39. to disk by pressing cancel at the prompt.

  41.    To load the voice data files from disk into Amiga memory and send
  42. them to your DX, select Amiga to DX menu option. You will be prompted for
  43. the file name on disk via a disk requester. After the file is loaded from disk,
  44. it is automatically sent to your DX. Note, make sure Internal Memory Protect
  45. is turned off and System Info Avail is enabled if you get an error.
